چکیده

In this study, PAHs and their transformed PAH products (TPPs) in road dust were subjected to UV driven photolysis, then extracted using simultaneous pressurized fluid extraction, analysed Shimadzu Triple Quadrupole GC/MS. The results of the analysis used investigate robustness reliability 14 existing diagnostic ratios (DRs) two newly proposed molecular DRs that are relevant for characterizing sources TPPs. influence photolysis on carcinogenic health risk posed humans by these hazardous pollutants was assessed. findings indicated segregated into stable, moderately stable non-stable classes source characteristics under photolysis. Only DRs, namely, benzo(a)pyrene/benzo(ghi)perylene (BaP/BghiP) total index exhibited consistent stability whilst fluoranthene/(fluoranthene + pyrene) (FRT/(FRT+PYR)) showed moderate stability. naphthalene/1-nitronaphthalene (NAP/NNAP) pyrene/(1-nitropyrene 1-hydroxypyrene) (PYR/(1NPY+HPY)) found be highly reliable post-emission characterization. cross-plots most traffic emissions is primary PAHs, secondary nitro-PAH (NPAH) percent resonance energy thermodynamic does not exert any direct DRs. Adults more vulnerable potential risks as a result TPPs whereas negligible exist children. This study contributes diagnosis TPP thus, regulatory mitigation thereby, promoting enhanced protection human environment.

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), nitro-PAHs and related environmental compounds: biological markers of exposure and effects.

Lung cancer caused by polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), nitro-PAHs and related environmental agents is a major problem in industrialized nations. The high case-fatality rate of the disease, even with the best supportive treatment, underscores the importance of primary lung cancer prevention. Development of biomarkers of exposure and effects to PAHs and related compounds is now underway a...

Biodegradation of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) in Petroleum Contaminated Soils

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons are a class of potentially hazardous chemicals of environmental and health concern. PAHs are one of the most prevalent groups of contaminants found in soil. Biodegradation of complex hydrocarbon usually requires the cooperation of more than single specie. In this research biotreatment of PAH (phenanthrene) was studied in a solid-phase reactor using indigenou...

Assessment of Sources and Health Risks of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) in the Street Dust of Dezful City

Street dust is mainly affected by the pollution of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). PAHs are a group of organic pollutants consisting of two or more benzene rings and are mainly produced during incomplete combustion. PAHs have attracted widespread attention due to their high carcinogenic and mutagenic properties in humans. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to investigate the sour...

Multimedia Model for Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) and Nitro-PAHs in Lake Michigan

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) contamination in the U.S. Great Lakes has long been of concern, but information regarding the current sources, distribution, and fate of PAH contamination is lacking, and very little information exists for the potentially more toxic nitro-derivatives of PAHs (NPAHs). This study uses fugacity, food web, and Monte Carlo models to examine 16 PAHs and five NPAH...
